About Maja Sahlin

I create original abstract paintings inspired by Nordic nature, changing seasons and the quiet moments found in everyday life. My work is shaped by soft natural colours, organic movement and layered textures.

Painting allows me to explore the beauty of colour contrast, where I am especially drawn to muted greens, warm neutrals, dusty pinks and earthy tones — colours that create a calm and harmonious presence in a room.

Each painting develops intuitively through layers of acrylic paint, expressive brushwork and tactile details. Rather than beginning with a fixed image, I allow the work to evolve slowly, responding to the colours, marks and textures that emerge along the way.

My intention is to create art that feels both grounding and open — work that invites the viewer to pause, breathe and discover something new over time.
